Lecturer - Catering and Hospitality

18.5 Hours per week X 52 Weeks per year

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our highly acclaimed Catering and Hospitality Team in the award winning department of Events, Hospitality and Food Technologies.

Previous experience in delivering kitchen based qualifications from entry level to level 3 is essential as you will become a valued member of the team delivering high standards of training and assessment to our students. In addition to confidently passing on your knowledge and expertise to budding young chefs you will need to be able to use your knowledge of the industry to train and inspire future generations of industry experts.

You will be confident in providing training and skills to our learners in an industrial kitchen environment producing quality food whilst completing assessments towards their qualifications. It is important that you are able to build good working relationships with students, communicate effectively, plan, prepare and administer kitchen assessments effectively. In addition you will need to be confident in all aspects of preparing food for production classes including ordering, menu development and planning

 

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Lead a team of learners to produce food items for our catering outlet Grab and go
  • Carry out assessment of learning
  • Liaise with course leaders in order to give valuable feedback on learner skills and progress
  • Maintain a consistent and vibrant learning environment in the practical kitchen workshop
  • Champion our commitment to putting students first
  • Exemplify our values of Fairness, Respect & Equality

 

After your first year, success in this role would mean you have:

  • Guide learners to produce high quality food to industry standards
  • Maintain the quality of service in the Grab and go outlet
