Position: Financial Controller
Salary £57,778 - £66,981
Contract: Permanent
Location: Sheffield
Hours: 37 Hours per week X 52 weeks per year
The Sheffield College is a further and higher education institution dedicated to providing academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 13,000 young people and adults annually. About the Role
As the Financial Controller, one of your first key responsibilities will be to lead on and implement a new Finance and ERP system across college. You will report into the Executive Director of Finance and will be responsible for a team of approximately 15 people.
You will manage 4 small teams and offer training and support to a wide range of stakeholders in the college. Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team you will collaborate across college with a solutions focused approach to drive improvements and efficiencies to enhance the student experience.
This role is ideal if you:
- Have the knowledge and confidence to lead the Finance and Procurement function in a large educational organisation
- Are passionate; to drive and develop the Finance and Procurement Team
- Are committed to putting our students first, working collaboratively across the college.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the finance and procurement teams to deliver on key objectives
- Ensuring that all financial requirements are met for all stakeholders
- Communicating with the team and across college on key finance related activities
- Ensuring compliance in a variety of areas such as Modern Slavery and Financial Accounting
- Providing training and development opportunities for the Finance team, as well as to the wider college on key changes regarding financial regulations
- Working on future forecasts and developments
Skills & Knowledge

- Management experience of leading a finance function
- Strong technical accounting skills
- Significant experience of exploiting IT solutions to drive efficiencies
- Experience of leading budget setting processes
- A CCAB qualified accountant
- Experience of accounting for capital projects and grant funded projects
