Salary: £24,450 - £27,072 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Location: Sheffield

Hours: 37 hours per week x 52 weeks per year

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Technician to join our supportive team at The Sheffield College. This post is instrumental in supporting high quality teaching and learning, we are looking for someone with specific skills to support the team and ensure the workshop is ran with high expectations with a student first approach.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical assistance within workshop practical sessions, including helping set up demonstrations.
  • Providing guidance and support to students, helping them to develop practical skills and knowledge.
  • Whilst work is planned, the post holder will have the responsibility for ensuring that all targets and deadlines are met.
  • Collaborating with lecturers and other staff to continuously improve the workshop's operations and educational setting.
  • Implementing and enforcing safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Assisting in the development of instructional materials and resources.
  • Required to carry out routine record keeping, filing and/or cataloguing.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Applicants will have gained training and experience through prior industry experience working as a maintenance and repair technician or related activity
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant vocational qualification at least Level 2 or equivalent. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with instructors, students, and other staff members.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with workshop tools and equipment, including diagnostic tools.
