Position: Employability Skills & Placement Officer in Service Industries Academy (Animal Care, Land Based, Hair & Beauty & Early Years & Childcare)

Salary: £31,098 - £34,968 per annum (pro-rated for part time)

Contract: Permanent

Location: Sheffield

Hours: 22.2 hours per week x 52 weeks per year

About the Role

The Sheffield College are looking for a Employment Services Placement Officer to join the Academy of Service Industries. As an area of growth, you will be joining a team of people committed to technical education and training in animal care, land based, hair & beauty and Early years & childcare.  

We are a passionate and dynamic team, and we are looking for individuals who can bring enthusiasm, spirit and creativity to the area.  No two days are the same in the academy and each team member plays a vital role in ensuring our young people achieve and progress. If you believe that education is key to raising aspirations and expectations, then this is the academy for you. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Delivery of high-quality and impactful student contact time through a mix of work-related activity, industry speakers and work-based visits 
  • Support progression to further study and employment through relevant experiences of different technical areas 
  • Play a key role in ensuring all learners have exposure to experiencing the world of work through classroom-based delivery and work placements, including undertaking competency assessments in the work place.
  • Ensure all academy students undertake work related activity as part of their study programme 
  • Improve outcomes for all academy students through meaningful sessions on employability skills 
  • Ensure robust and appropriate parent/carer and employer liaison 

Skills & Knowledge

  • This is a student facing role that supports the development of employability skills, with some classroom-based delivery. 
  • Candidates must have industry experience/background in Early years and childcare (other service industry experience is desirable).
  • Candidates must have an assessor’s qualification and be willing and able to travel to work placements to support students training on the job.
