Position: Catering Assistant

Salary: £23,549 per annum (pro-rated for part-time & term time)

Contract: 2 x Permanent Posts

Location: Sheffield – Olive Grove & City Campus

Hours: Olive Grove: 20 hours per week x 38 weeks per year (afternoon only, 4 hours per day)

City Campus: 17 hours per week x 38 weeks per year (working days Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday afternoon)

About the Role

The Sheffield College are looking for 2 Catering Assistants to join the team at our City Campus and Olive Grove on a part-time basis. Catering Assistants work as part of a team to provide a professional, friendly, high quality and efficient service to the college’s students, staff and visitors. They are accountable to the Catering Supervisor and play a key role in maintaining a safe and hygienic workplace.

In this role, you will help to prepare and serve food, operating a till, table clearing, dishwashing and cleaning of large and small scale equipment.The post holder will be enthusiastic, demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate well with customers and colleagues

Key Responsibilities

• Required to be polite and courteous in the execution of their duties in order to present a positive image of the Department.

• May come into contact with a variety of people, including some people external to the College.

• Role holders are required to work as part of a team of people usually carrying out identical or very similar duties, under direct supervision.

• Awareness, understanding of and adherence to basic health and safety procedures affecting self and others.

• Operate simple machinery

• Transport and collect goods and equipment, often of a heavy nature and will therefore be required to operate safe manual handling practices.
